Philippines, Canada Sign Defence Pact


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) The Philippines on Saturday signed a defence procurement agreement with Canada to upgrade the Asian nation's military capabilities. Philippine President Benigno Aquino III and visiting Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper witnessed the signing of the deal for military equipment, materials and services. 'This will help us in our efforts to build our defence and security capabilities,' Aquino was quoted as saying by DPA. 'This agreement will create new opportunities for Canadian businesses in our defense and security sector,' said Harper, the first Canadian prime minister to visit the Philippines in 15 years.
