(MENAFN) China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) announced that Mercedes-Benz will recall 1,525 cars in the Asian country, reported Xinhua News.

The AQSIQ said that the recall will affect B180 and B200 models, manufactured between February 28 and October 8 in 2012, due to faulty fuel tank vent valves.

It added that the vent valves in the fuel tank might loosen if the car is operated with gasoline blended with 15 percent methanol-gasoline for a certain length of time, which could lead to slight fuel leakage via the valves that might trigger a safety concern.

It is worth noting that Mercedes-Benz China will start the recall on December 26, and will offer free vehicle checks in addition to installing new fuel tanks, if needed.
