(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday asked the Congress to apologise to the nation and to people of state for the Gujarat Congress president's Wednesday speech in which he compared Chief Minister Modi to a monkey.

The saffron party has also filed a complaint against Arjun Modhwadia with the Election Commission of India.

At an election rally in Junagadh, Modhwadia had likened Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to a lion and without taking Modi's name had compared him to a monkey, saying a monkey sitting atop a tree was trying to challenge the lion.

Gujarat BJP legal cell convener Parindu Bhagat who has complained to the poll panel told Khaleej Times that the Congress leader had violated the election code of conduct.B
