UAE- Distraught mom jumps to death 

(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) A 49-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the ninth floor of a building just months after her elder daughter was killed in a road accident. The incident happened in Sharjah's Buhairah area on Thursday night.

It is believed that the woman had been suffering from depression following the death of her daughter in March this year. A Manipal University student, the daughter and her classmate died when they were hit by a car while crossing the road after returning home from university.

"The police control centre received a phone call and a patrol was dispatched immediately. The woman was transferred to the Kuwaiti Hospital," confirmed a police official from Al Buhairah Police Station.

According to a source close to the family, the Indian woman is survived by her nine-year-old daughter and husband who had returned home from a walk when the incident took place.

"An official from the building called the husband and informed him about the woman lying dead on the ground floor outside the building," said the source.

The family had recently shifted to the building following the death of their eldest child. Another source said that the woman has left behind a letter. Police officials are conducting preliminary investigations.
