Kuwait- Suspect nabbed after fleeing with patrol car


(MENAFN- Arab Times) As seen in the movies, a person inside a jeep started firing gunshots at security patrolmen in Salmiya area when they arrested a reckless Kuwaiti motorist for driving under the influence of drugs. The officers had earlier stopped the citizen, conducted a search inside his vehicle, and found an envelope of heroin with Civil ID cards belonging to some ten Kuwaiti men and women after observing erratic manner by which he was driving. Security sources said the patrol officers were about to refer the citizen to the concerned authority when suddenly the person inside the jeep started firing gunshots at them, and so the citizen managed to escape with the patrol vehicle. However, he lost control of the vehicle, swerving and crashed near the roundabout on Kabad Motorway. The officers called for backup and the citizen was referred in an ambulance to the Farwaniya hospital with various degrees of injuries. In the meantime, the description of the person inside the jeep who fired gunshots at the officers has been circulated to various security checkpoints for his arrest. Police have registered the case for investigation. Meanwhile, rescue men from Hawalli apprehended a 40-year old citizen for consuming alcohol. The suspect had parked his vehicle at a parking lot in Salmiya area and tried to run away when he spotted the securitymen. The officers went ahead and conducted a search in his vehicle and found half a bottle of imported liquor. He was referred to the concerned authority.
