Saudi-Chinese youth forum focuses on medical research 

(MENAFN - Arab News) The Saudi-Chinese Youth Dialogue Forum outlined an initiative to set up an organ donation center and a national database to link donors and would-be recipients in its concluding session in Riyadh on Thursday.

Copies of the initiative have been presented to the United Nations and the World Health Organization.

The forum was sponsored by the Foreign Ministry in line with the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah for dialogue between different religions and cultures.

Undersecretary for Economic and Cultural Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Al-Saadoun commended the successful participation of Saudi youths in the past events, which made tremendous impact among the Chinese youth about the Kingdom.

The Saudi participants made a presentation of the Kingdom's initiative to set up a stem cell research center in the Kingdom which will help in the treatment of the diseases related to liver, heart and other vital organs.

A video presentation of the Saudi participation in the events of the previous forum, which took place in Beijing in September, was also made.

Speaking in the event Assistant Foreign Minister Prince Khaled bin Saud declared the decision of the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center to launch a stem cell research center.

Prince Muhammad bin Saud, undersecretary at the ministry for information and technology, and Chinese Ambassador to the Kingdom Li Chengwen also attended the event. The third session of the dialogues focused on medical, research and clinical applications.

The Saudi delegation comprising 22 youths was headed by Deputy Undersecretary for Economic and Cultural affairs Faisal bin Abdul Aziz Hashim.
