(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) A 40-year-old man allegedly fitted a camera secretly inside the bathroom ceiling of his two female flatmates and filmed them naked in the shower.

The Court of First Instance yesterday charged him with sexual assault.

The Filipino, who works as a sales executive, is believed to have breached the modesty of his two compatriot female flatmates by fixing a hidden camera in the ceiling of their private bathroom in the house they shared with the man and his wife.

One of the women who filed the police complaint, told the investigating prosecutor that she was about to enter the bathroom to take a shower on that day in July when she got suspicious on seeing the accused entering the bathroom before her. The accused was not using that bathroom as he has his own bathroom which he shared with his family.

When he walked out, the Filipina checked the bathroom carefully before taking her clothes off, and spotted what looked like a mobile phone board key fixed in a hole in the corner of the ceiling. As she removed it she noticed it was connected to a USB flash drive, which she removed and switched off.

When she ran the USB on her laptop she saw two video clips of her and her roommate naked in the shower. The footage also featured the face of the accused at the beginning of the film. She showed the clips to her roommate and together they went to confront the defendant, who was in his room.

They asked him why he filmed them and he said: ''Sorry, sorry''. They then asked him to leave the flat and two days later they reported the incident to the Al Muraqqabat police station.

The other complainant, a 32-year-old clerk, gave a similar statement in the investigation, saying that when they confronted the accused he said he was sorry and pleaded them not to inform anyone, but the flatmates told his wife about the incident.

When quizzed, the accused said that the women were his friends and admitted to having filmed them naked in the shower with a small camera that he hid in the ceiling. The police seized the camera.

The Criminal Evidence report showed that the two clips featured two naked women in the shower and dated back to January 2008.- mary@khaleejtimes.com
