(MENAFN Press) Emirates NBD, a leading bank in the region, announced today that its Internet banking platform had recently been recognised in the Banking and Finance Sector category, at the top IT awards in the region.

Emirates NBD won the 'BFSI Deployment of the Year Award' at the 3rd annual Computer News Middle East ICT Achievement Awards and the 'Banking & Finance Sector Implementation of the Year Award' at the 8th annual Arabian Computer News (ACN) Arab Technology Awards, respectively.

The awards follow from the successful revamp of the Emirates NBD online banking system that offers e-banking customers greater look and feel as well as greater security to its Internet banking platform, in addition to value-added benefits as a result of improved technology.

"At Emirates NBD, we are constantly working to enhance our online banking platform, to offer increasingly secure access to the online banking platform, so that customers can better manage their accounts from the comfort of their homes or offices," said Ali Sajwani, Group Chief Information Officer, Emirates NBD.

"We are delighted to have received these awards from well-known industry publications, as they are a significant industry acknowledgement of the excellence of our IT platforms."

At the ACN Arab Technology Awards, the Banking & Finance Sector Implementation of the Year award honours financial sector organisations that can truly demonstrate the efficient use of IT to create step change within the organisation, and change the face of the products and services offered to customers. The award also recognises organisations in the banking and finance sector that are at the forefront of IT adoption, even in difficult economic times.

Emirates NBD's digital strategy was to accentuate the value of Online Banking by transforming it from a purely transactional service to a One-Stop-Shop for intuitive financial management. A project was undertaken to enhance its online banking platform, and provide a new age banking experience for its customers.

Given the size of the Emirates NBD customer base and its future growth ambitions, the online banking platform was designed with intuitiveness, rich customer experience, security, performance and long term scalability as its 5 core design principles.

"The recent IT awards have further underlined the success of the online banking platform as one of the most cost-effective solutions in the region, as it enabled us to foster numerous partnerships with reputed organisations to offer differentiated value to our end customers," added Sajwani. "It has also caused a shift in customer behavior as more partners have adapted the online route for funds collection."
