(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) The Women's Guild in Oman (WGO) held its annual winter craft fair at InterContinental Muscat on Tuesday. At least 65 stalls displaying a variety of goods including decorative items, clothes, shoes, handbags, Indian dresses, precious stones, handicrafts, paintings, wall hangings, jewellery and gems, Christmas gifts, calendars, mugs and scarves, were put up at the fair.Altogether 500 people visited the fair. The money raised through the fair will be donated to local Omani charities like the National Association for Cancer Awareness, Oman Leprosy and the Muscat Autism Centre. Sally Sleep, president, WGO, said, ''I feel it's a very popular event where the local community enjoys getting together. It's an annual event and has always been successful. The reason I say it is popular is because it is evident by the number of people present. It looks like a relaxed garden party.'' Evelyn, a stall owner said, ''I have made all the items displayed at my stall. I have painted glass, pottery and other decorative items which can be used in kitchen, garden and other places of the house. I am happy with the response. It is good to know that people like my work.''Another stall owner, Sheetal, said, ''I have a lot of greeting cards and other home craft items, made by me. I am glad people have appreciated.''WGO is now looking forward to its mega fundraising event, the Crystal Ball, in December.
