(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A plumber and a worker, both Bangladeshis, who allegedly exploited a woman masseuse and made her give 'shady' massage to men for free, were charged with human trafficking on Tuesday in the Court of First Instance.
The alleged victim, a 34-year-old Bangladeshi woman, told the investigating prosecutor that she had come to Dubai to work in a massage centre for Dh1,300 a month.
The plumber (36) and the worker (28) picked her up from the Dubai International Airport in April and took her to a flat in Rafaa. They took away her passport and visit visa and the following day she began her work at a massage centre in Bur Dubai.
She gave full-body massage sessions to Asian men for a few months and was not paid any salary or tips. She then realised that what she was doing was illegal and stopped going to work.
The woman asked the defendants to return her passport so that she could go for the required medical tests for her residence visa. But the accused beat her and held her captive in a room for four days.
One night, she was surprised to find the plumber sleeping naked by her side and he later allegedly raped her.
On resuming her services at the massage centre, she, one day, sought the help of an Emirati man by calling out to him from the window of the centre. The same day the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers raided the flat and arrested the pair and the women who were working willingly as prostitutes and illegal masseuses.
A police sergeant said that they raided the defendant's flat where they found the victim with two other women.
The victim showed them her injured arm and said that she was being forced into prostitution. She told the police the accused were in the gym located at the top of the building and the police arrested them. The police also seized many copies of visas and passports of Asian girls from the accused.
