(MENAFN - Arab Times) Officers from Directorate General for Drug Control confiscated 5,000 bottles of liquor that were smuggled into the country in two containers shipped from a GCC country.
According to a press statement issued by Ministry of Interior, when the Directorate General for Drug Control received information about the attempt to smuggle a large number of liquor bottles to Kuwait via sea, a team was formed for investigations and observation.
They followed the movement of the containers and when it reached Shuwaikh Port, they opened the two containers with the assistance of firefighters. Inside the containers, they found 5,000 bottles of liquor well hidden among sugar bags.
Investigations with the authorities of the GCC country from where the liquor was sent are ongoing to identify the individual responsible for this act.
A case was registered and the items were referred to Public Prosecution for investigations and legal action.
Drug pills seized: Ahmadi security operatives apprehended a citizen in possession of hashish and some narcotic pills, reports Al-Nahar daily.
Sources said the suspect was standing by the main road in Egaila area, and then he tried to hail a taxi when patrolmen approached him, which prompted securitymen to conduct a search on him and found the contraband.
Later, the officers checked his details and discovered he had served a term in prison for drug related offenses. He was referred to the concerned authority.
