(MENAFN) Nissan Motor Co. announced that its net profit for the 2012 fiscal year is expected to drop below earlier forecasts, driven down by falling sales in China, reported Xinhua News.

The Japanese carmaker is suffering from weak sales as a territorial dispute between Beijing and Tokyo over a number of islands in the East China Sea caused protests in China that called for a boycott of Japanese products.

The company forecasts to earn USD3.97 billion for the business year ending March 31, down from a previous forecast of USD4.97 billion.

Moreover, consolidated operating profit is expected to reach USD7.14 billion, from USD8.70 billion.

As for sales, Nissan expects them to fall from the USD128 billion projected in July to USD122 billion.
