(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Oman Swimming Association (OSA) chairman Taha al Kishry will be involved in a two-way fight with contender Sami Abdul Aziz al Bahrani as he will look to retain the post at the November 11 elections for the 2012-2016 term.Kishry filed his nomination from Ahli-Sidab Club while Bahrani, a leading businessman and a former Oman Volleyball Association board member, was nominated by Oman Club for the polls that will feature representatives from 16 clubs.The incumbent Kishry, who is also the director-general of the Asian Swimming Federation (AASF), completes his second four-year term as the OSA chief this month. The OSA announced the final list of candidates after the Ministry of Sports Affairs on Monday officially gave the go-ahead to release it.The current OSA general secretary, Qais al Zakwani, and the treasurer, Abdulhakim al Shanfari, are both set to be elected unopposed as they remain the only candidates in fray for the respective posts.Zakwani has been nominated from Bahla and Shanfari has filed his papers from Al Nasr.Usama Barwani, also a nominee from Bahla, is set to be named vice-chairman since he is the lone candidate for the post. A total of 11 representatives will contest for the five posts of OSA members. With elections to most of the sports bodies coming up this month, the sports ministry is expected to give its final nod to the respective associations soon. After that, the associations will formally announce the names of the contesting candidates a week before the poll dates.
