(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) The Indian housemaid, who was severely bitten and thrashed by her sponsor's wife and later arrested for alleged assault, was scheduled to fly back to her hometown on Monday night.Twenty five year old Sindhu Shivadasan was released by the ROP on Sunday after being arrested on charges of assaulting the sponsor's wife. The complaint was filed while she was in Sohar Hospital receiving treatment for wounds, which she alleged had been inflicted by the wife. She was picked up by police after she was discharged.''After media reports on her plight, Indian Embassy officials and the Sohar unit of the Kerala Muslim Culture Centre (KMCC) visited her in jail and held talks with police, during which her sponsor agreed to withdraw his complaint,'' said Yousif Salim, a KMCC office-bearer who was involved in the process.Sindhu, too has withdrawn her complaint to the embassy, he said. Sindhu's visa had expired two years ago and she had reportedly requested the sponsor several times to send her back. On October 22, in a argument with the sponsor's wife over working for another family in Sohar, Sindhu was bitten on the neck and chest. ''She was arrested after being discharged from the hospital,'' he said. She was scheduled to take the 10.30pm Oman Air flight to Thiruvananthapuram in South India on Monday.''We are very happy that things have ended on a positive note. However, still there are serious issues like violation of the norms that prohibit anyone below the age of 30 from working as a housemaid in Oman. The agents who brought her to Oman should be questioned,'' Salim said.
