Qatar- Msheireb grants USD411m construction contract


(MENAFN) Msheireb Properties' chief officer for Design and Delivery, Mohammad Al Marri, announced that the Qatari developer has awarded a USD411 million contract to Brookfield Multiplex Medgulf, reported Arabian Business. Al Marri said that the contract is part of Msheireb's USD5.49 billion Msheireb Downtown Doha project, in which Brookfield Multiplex Medgulf, a consortium of Brookfield Multiplex and Medgulf, would be responsible for the construction of Phase 1C. He added that Phase 1C integrates a total constructed area of 225,000 sq m, of which 122,000 sq m is below ground, whereas above ground, the phase will have 10 buildings consisting of 4 office blocks with 30 retail outlets, 5 residential buildings, 51 apartments and a primary school with a day-care center. Phase 1C will also comprise a district cooling plant, a 66-kilovolt substation, a mobile telecommunication node and a hub for automated waste collection. The Msheireb Downtown Doha project, expected to complete in 2016, will see the establishment of over 100 buildings to offer housing, workspace, cultural and community facilities, while preserving key heritage buildings.
