(MENAFN- Arab Times) The suspect who reportedly deliberately ran over security personnel during the demonstration in Sabah Al-Nasser was referred to the Public Prosecution and has been remanded to police custody for 10 days, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. The suspect, who is detained at the Central Prison, has been charged with murder attempt. According to reports the suspect initially denied the charge but later admitted to deliberately driving his vehicle in the direction of the security forces and running over them. He claimed he was blinded by the smoke bombs which were hurled by the security forces who were trying to keep at bay the mobs who were demonstrating against the detention of former MP Musallam Al-Barrak at the Central Prison for allegedly offending HH the Amir. However, all indications show the suspect was taking part in the demonstration and even assaulted securitymen on duty. Meanwhile, reliable sources said the Saudi citizen who was arrested for taking part in the demonstration has been deported from the country. However, according to some local dailies his mother is Kuwaiti and has a large extended family in Kuwait. Meanwhile, an army officer who reportedly pelted stones at securitymen has been detained for interrogation.
