First International Conference On Islamic Finance Opens In Oman


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) The first Muscat International Conference on 'Islamic finance' started its two-day works here today with the participation of more than 400 delegates from Oman and abroad. The conference will discuss a number of issues related to Islamic Finance and Islamic law. In an address on the occasion, the Grand Mufti of the Sultanate of Oman Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al-Khalili hoped that this conference will be the beginning of a new economic era shedding light on Islamic economy and its importance for the Islamic nation. For his part, the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dr Mahathir Mohammad said in a speech at the opening of the conference, that the Islamic peoples should exploit good things and the blessings bestowed upon them by Almighty Allah and follow the teachings of Islam. He explained that there is an urgent need for the Islamic banking system in the present time to take advantage of available capital in the Islamic world, stressing that the non-Muslim countries began pursuing Islamic banking platform in the belief of the importance of this system for the current era.
