UAE- Four referred to court over Dh4.9 million heist 

(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) The Dubai Public Prosecution has referred four Asians to the Court of First Instance to stand trial on the charge of forcible robbery of Dh4.9 million.

Chief Prosecutor with the Deira Prosecution Mohammed Hasan Abdel Rahim said that the case dates back to August 22 when the accused planned to intercept a business partner after he withdrew a big sum of money from his father's exchange outlet.

The investigation showed that they met away from the outlet's and other shops' CCTV cameras to decide when and how they would intercept him and take the cash.

Abdel Rahim revealed that the accused watched the complainant as he withdrew the money from his father's exchange outlet and was going to his shop in Mirshed Souq.

The man who was driving the complainant's car was the one who told the accused about the big cash. He was coordinating with them and in constant contact with his accomplices all along. He was also charged in the case. The accused intercepted the complainant's car with their own car. They stepped in the back seats of his car where they got their hands on the money and robbed it. They sprayed the complainant's eyes with a chemical substance to stop him from seeing that his driver was with them.

They threatened him with a knife and tied him up with an adhesive tape. He then blacked out because of the substance they sprayed on him.

They sped away in their car shortly later. Abdel Rahim said that the investigation was carried out by prosecutor Hamad Al Katbi and overseen by the Technical Office. He lauded the investigators for their great work of closing the case and bringing the perpetrators to justice. He also urged the public to be cautious when moving with big sums of cash.
