(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) GCC Power 2012, one of the biggest forums and exhibitions of the electricity and energy industry in the region, will be held from November 12-14 at Shangri La's Barr al Jissah Resort & Spa in Muscat.The conference, managed by the GCC Regional Committee for Large Electric Systems (GCC CIGRE), is being organised by IFP Qatar, a leading event organiser in the Middle East.The details of the event were announced by representatives of GCC CIGRE on Sunday.Addressing the press conference, Eng Thani al Khusaibi, adviser for transmission and planning affairs at Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) and the representative of GCC CIGRE in Oman, said that the event will receive over 800 international industry experts, key specialists from the GCC as well as a large number of local and international companies from the energy sector.''We are expecting trade professionals from all over the GCC to attend the event to view cutting-edge technologies, understand market insights, network and collaborate with potential business clients, assimilate innovations and absorb clarity on the GCC regulatory framework and upscaling of renewable energy in the region,'' Eng Khusaibi said.OETC is the official representative of GCC CIGRE in the sultanate.Dr Ali al Ghafri, Public Authority for Electricity and Water (PAEW) chairman's assistant for international relations and information, said, ''The conference will discuss dozens of worksheets provided by senior decision-makers, academics and manufacturers in the region, experts, and investors from around the world to deliberate on the present and future of the electricity industry in the Gulf region and ways to develop this dynamic sector.''George Ayache, general manager of IFP Qatar, said, ''The annual conference and exhibition has become one of the headline events in the region as it brings together the top minds in the electricity and power industry.''
