(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Oman's national football team and its key partner, Oman Air, will be welcoming television stars Daniel Honig and Andrew Lappitt of US, from The Amazing Race series, at the Oman-Japan World Cup qualifying match on November 14 at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex.Honig and Lappitt starred as teammates on Season 13 of The Amazing Race, a popular, award-winning reality television series that originated in the US. It pits teams in an around-the-world, scavenger-hunt-like competition with US1Mn going to the winner. Honig and Lappitt finished third out of 11 teams.Honig and Lappitt are flying Oman Air to Muscat, where they will visit the city for the first time and then watch Oman's crucial AFC round four, Group B fixture.In the coming weeks, they will also be guest authoring a series of commentaries about the match and their trip on the OFA's official site ofa.om. Honig left no doubt who he will be rooting for when the Red Warriors takes on Japan.''I'm cheering for Oman definitely,'' Honig said. ''Reading about the country and the warm reputation of its people drew me to try and visit Oman, but I've been following the football team closely since this summer, and you can tell it's a place where everybody loves football.''Since they haven't qualified for a World Cup before, I see this Oman team as a great underdog story, and I'm going to Muscat with plans to root hard as an honorary Red Warrior. I want to see them qualify for Brazil, and I want to see them beat Japan “ it would be amazing to be there and be part of that experience.''Both of them also travelled to New Zealand, Cambodia, India, Russia and other locations, but this trip will be their first visit to the sultanate.Discussing the sites in Oman he was most interested in seeing, beyond the football match, Lappitt highlighted Qantab beach, Old Muttrah Souq and Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque.Oman plays Japan on November 14 at 3:30pm at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Muscat.While general entry tickets are RO2, one may also purchase VIP tickets for RO15.
