(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) A British art and sculpture exhibition will be held at Bait al Zubair from November 13 to December 19. The exhibition, hosted by the British Council in partnership with Bait al Zubair, will feature 52 pieces of British landscape art spanning the last 100 years, a press release said.Maryam al Zadjali, director of the Omani Society for Fine Arts, said, ''This exhibition is a great opportunity for our community to see important pieces that are part of global art history. As an artist myself I am excited to learn more about the development of British art as I am more familiar with the works of other European masters. The Omani Society for Fine Arts is delighted to work with the British Council and Bait al Zubair to present this show. It is our joint responsibility to promote different types of art in our community.''Maryam said that art in Oman really began only 32 years ago, so it has a very short history. ''Instead of sending our artists abroad to see such masterpieces, we are elated that they are coming to us. We commend both the British Council and Bait al Zubair for their valuable contributions to art.''Malik bin Fahmy al Hinai, director, Bait al Baranda, said, ''We are very pleased that Bait al Zubair, in conjunction with the British Council Oman, is bringing such art to the sultanate. These masters will help Omani artists understand the various concepts and mediums used to create them and learn a range of techniques.''Exhibitions of this nature provide the public with an opportunity to view diversity in artworks created across the globe. Art is gradually growing in the sultanate, and this firmly reiterates the need to introduce such quality events from time to time.''
