(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Bank Sohar organised a number of programmes during the month of October, which included a health talk and a cancer awareness event in Sohar.It also took part in the ninth cancer awareness walkathon of National Cancer Awareness Association (NACA).The bank, which has been actively supporting the initiatives of the Ministry of Health, organised and participated in the events that highlighted the need for early detection of breast cancer and encouraged a healthy lifestyle.Breast cancer is today's leading killer of women aged 35 years and above around the world. The programmes commenced with a breast cancer awareness programme for its women staff.The staff attended a health awareness talk on breast cancer held in association with KIMS Oman Hospital at its head office. The bank also arranged free clinical examination/mammograms in coordination with NACA).PINS/badges were distributed among all female employees, the proceeds of which will be donated as part of charity to NACA.''Bank Sohar has been a supporter and promoter of health sector initiatives in the sultanate since inception. Breast cancer cases in women have been increasing globally and also in the GCC."We can minimise such cases through early detection. The bank had also organised talks on health related issues in the past. However, this was the first time that it organised a talk on breast cancer for women employees."Staff are integral to the growth and success of the bank and their wellbeing is given utmost importance,'' Munira Abdulnabi Macki, DGM human resources and corporate support, Bank Sohar said.Bank Sohar has also extended its support to the walkathon. The proceeds of this year's walkathon were earmarked for two key projects of NACA.
