Kuwait- Team ponders ways to tackle protest


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Security Media Department of Ministry of Interior indicated that the General Observation Department, which is under direct authority of the Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Humoud, is responsible for periodical checking of the performance and attitude of all military, civilian and professional employees of Ministry of Interior. They have to ensure that these employees do not participate in any banned activities and adopt safety measures while using facilities such as equipments, vehicles, and so on. They are also responsible for receiving complaints from public against any employee of Ministry of Interior and investigating them for confirmation, after which reports on the matter are presented to the concerned authorities as well as the minister. Security Media Department stressed it is the right of every Kuwaiti citizen and expatriate to submit complaints against any police officer who does not perform his duty properly, misbehaves, uses his authority in a wrong manner or does not apply the law in a proper manner, adding that the public can submit such complaints personally to the General Observation Department. Meanwhile, senior security operatives recently arranged an extended meeting at the Interior Ministry headquarters. The meeting chaired by Assistant Undersecretary for Special Security Lieutenant General Suleiman Al-Fahad was held in the presence of other undersecretaries, reports Al-Rai daily quoting a security source. The same source said the meeting focused on adequate preparations against a second 'National Dignity' protest which has been scheduled for next Sunday. At the meeting, officers came up with mechanism to overcome the planned protest and will brief the First Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Hamoud on the outcome of discussion. Earlier, the minister had directed senior officials of the ministry to device means by which they would prevent the intended protest, and the officers are determined to implement law in line with the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the source indicated.
