Lee says 'Facebook me' to win wedding invite

(MENAFN- AFP) Malaysian badminton star Lee Chong Wei is offering his Facebook fans the chance to win an invitation to his wedding by posting creative comments to his page.

Lee is Malaysia's most successful Olympian with two silver medals and is a major celebrity in the badminton-crazy country. Some 1,700 users have already responded in the hope of winning one of the ten invitations.

The 30-year-old world number one is getting married to former top Malaysian shuttler Wong Mew Choo on November 9 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center.

Wedding guests include Prime Minister Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor, who is patron of the Badminton Association of Malaysia.

Fans who posted comments on why they wish to attend the wedding reception on Lee's fan page (Lee Chong Wei official fans club) said he was their idol and wanted to share this special moment with the badminton star.

One user, Rose Corray, said: "Congrats to our Malaysian darling on your up coming wedding. Would be glad to attend your wedding as this is truly an honour. Thank you for having us your fans on your most memorable day."

Another fan, Raymond Ho from neighbouring Singapore said attending the nuptials would leave him with "memories of a lifetime".

The competition began on October 28 and ends on November 5, with the lucky winners chosen by Lee and his intended Wong.
