(MENAFN - ProactiveInvestors - Australia) Newera Resources (ASX: NRU) has concluded maiden drilling at its Shanagan East Coal Project in Mongolia with the most recent holes drilled intersecting shallow coal.

Drilling intercepted between 2 metres and 4.3 metres of cummulative net coal in five of the last holes to be drilled in the 24-hole, 1,500 metre program.

Initial interpretation of the Shanagan Project has identified coal along 6.5 kilometres of strike, with lateral continuity of multiple black coal seams outcropping along the coal measure margin.

Importantly, the potential exists for the identification of new seams with further exploration.

Initial analysis indicates a potential for bright, high quality black coal with a high gross calorific value (GCV) coal and an average GCV (DAF) approaching 8,000 kilocalories per kilogram.

Other key results indicate a low sulphur, low moisture, high ash black coal.

Final core samples from the Shanagan Project have been sent to SGS Laboratories in Mongolia for analysis.

Newera has also just completed a 15 line kilometre geophyisics survey over Shanagan Project to assist in determining the strike and depth extent of the currently known seams and where possible, locate new seams for future exploration.

The company is awaiting the results of the survey and the modelling of those results.

The Shanagan Project comprises one exploration licence covering around 2,223 hectares in a known coal bearing region, 140 kilometres southeast of Ulaanbaatar.

The project is ideally located about 50 kilometres from an existing rail siding that services the nearby Baganuur lignite coal deposit, and connects to the trans-Siberian railway that services China in the South to Russia in the North.

Newera is investigating whether access to the line is possible.
