(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A maid accused an air- conditioning technician of fondling her, while he was doing some repair work at her sponsor's villa, a court heard on Wednesday.
The woman, a 21-year-old Filipina, alleged in the Public Prosecution investigation that the incident took place in August when the accused and another worker from an air conditioning maintenance company came to her sponsor's villa in Jebel Ali to do some work.
It was about 9.30am when they began their work on the rooftop and shortly later the defendant asked for a glass of water, she said.
As the maid went to the kitchen she was surprised by the accused coming down after her. When she handed him the glass of water he allegedly told her that he liked her and suddenly fondled her but she yelled at him and he said he was sorry when he realised that she was angry.
The maid got away from him and went to her bedroom carrying her sponsor's baby girl who was with her at the time.
She called her sponsor to come to the villa.
He reported the incident to the police and during the investigation the accused admitted the charge.
The technician, a 28-year-old Indian, faced a molestation charge in the Court of First Instance.
He denied the charge in court alleging it happened by mistake but then admitted touching the woman, saying that she had dropped the accusation against him.
