Saudia suspends US-bound flights 

(MENAFN - Arab News) Saudi Arabian Airlines has canceled US-bound flights due to severe weather conditions in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

The air carrier announced on its website that it is attempting to alleviate the difficulties of the affected passengers. Measures are being taken to provide added capacity to the flights once flights resume, according to a spokesman.
Saudia said it will inform passengers of new flight schedules once they are finalized, which it expected will be very soon, according to the airline's spokesman

The airline also advised passengers to call Customer Services Call Centers: in the US at 1-800-472-8342 and in Saudi Arabia at 9200-2222. Saudia
Flight SV20 which was scheduled to leave from New York's JKF Airport yesterday and arrive today in Jeddah was canceled. Other flights in the US were also canceled or postponed from Saudi Arabia and the rest of Gulf region. Emirates, Qatar Airways, Kuwait Airways and Etihad Airways and other regional players also halted their flight operations.

The post tropical storm that affected the East Coast of the US shut down all major airports and grounded thousands of flights Monday, disrupting travel plans.

The date and time of when the airports are expected to reopen is not known. Canceled flights from Saudi Arabia and Gulf to the US are expected to resume with the reopening of US airports on the East Coast.
