(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Muscat Electricity Distribution Company (MEDC) has signed a contract with Dawood Contracting Company for the construction of its main office at the Airport Heights in Bausher, during a press conference held at their head office on Wednesday. The initial investment for the project is RO1.5mn.The multi-storey building is being built with the purpose of having a network control room.The building would be equipped with IT infrastructure and the total envisaged cost of the finished property may reach or exceed RO3mn.''Environmental considerations are a part of the architecture where thermo insulation and use of natural light would be the key features for energy efficiency.''We will be focusing more on in-house future facilities like online billing. The new building will also accommodate the call centre and provide efficient workplace environment,'' said Manal bint Mohammed al Abduwani, chairperson, MEDC.The work for the new building is scheduled to commence in October 2012 and is to be completed by January 2014.''The new building will have provisions for solar energy efficient panels and will provide better working conditions,'' added Manal. ''It will be designed keeping the health safety for the staff and environment in mind.''
