(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) While long queues and delayed trips were vastly noticed during Eid Al Adha last year at most Sharjah Transport stops, the corporation is fully geared up this time with more trips.

There will 726 trips and according to a senior official, these trips include 113 for city public transport and 613 for intercity routes.

Abdulaziz Al Jarouan, Head of Franchise and Licensure Department at Sharjah Transport, said Sharjah Transport has specified 86 buses for commuting passengers within Sharjah city.

"These are 15 more buses as compared to Eid Al Adha last year to meet the pressing demand."

Al Jarouan added that the corporation is also set to decrease the frequency time to five minutes on all bus routes from 6am to 11pm during the Eid Al Adha holiday.

Rashid Mahboob, Manager of Al Jubail Bus Station, said the intercity transport department has increased its bus crew by 44 per cent during the same period.

"The first bus trip will start at 4.30am and end at midnight. More trips will also be operated for passengers returning from Abu Dhabi to Sharjah from 6am to 12 midnight."

Likewise, more trips will be operated for the Eastern Region passengers, spanning the cities of Kalba, Khor Fakkan and Al Dhaid. "Additional trips will be available on both directions every 15 minutes from Al Jubail Station to Dubai: Deira, Bur Dubai, Al Satwa, Karama, Al Ghubaiba, City Centre Metro Station, Al Rashidiya Metro Station Jebel Ali and Al Qouz.

Mohammed Al Buraimi, Manager of the advance cab booking system, said the call centre will be available round the clock, and more staff will be ready during peak hours. "We are ready with more staff in emergency cases, particularly from 4pm to 2am on five shifts."

Echoing the same, Yusuf Al Hammadi, Manager of External Offices, said they are also ready for the Eid Al Adha holidays at the Eastern and Central regions to ease passengers' sufferings.

"The Customer Service Centre is more than ready to receive the public's complaints, suggestions and comments on service round the clock at toll free (700067000)," he said, noting that all bus schedules are available on the Sharjah Transport website: www.mowasalat.ae.
