Siemens inks USD109m UAE substation contract

(MENAFN) Siemens stated that it has inked a USD109 million deal to set up the Shamkha 400/132/33 kV substation in Abu Dhabi, reported Gulf News. The company said that the substation would help meet growing demand for electricity, mainly for new infrastructure and industrial areas in the eastern region of the UAE capital. The substation would be built on a turnkey basis for Abu Dhabi Transmission & Dispatch Company (Transco). It is worth noting that in 2011, Siemens signed an agreement with Transco for the establishment of the 400kV Mahawi substation, the first of its kind to be developed exclusively by Siemens in the UAE.
