(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Four race wins on the concluding day was enough to secure Pierre Pennec's crew on Groupe Edmond de Rothschild victory in the seventh leg of the 2012 Extreme Sailing Series in  Nice, France, on Sunday. However, the bigger picture remained positive for the two Oman Sail teams with The Wave, Muscat finishing second and Oman Air coming in third. Their efforts in Nice were good enough for them to latch on to the top positions in the overall leaderboard as the eight-team fleet converges in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for the eighth and final leg of the 2012 Series, from December 6-9.In the overall standings, The Wave, Muscat remains on top with 61.5 points, followed by Oman Air with 54 points. The winner in Nice, Groupe Edmond de Rothschild, is on third with 51 points, followed by Red Bull Sailing Team, with 48.5 points. For Oman Sail, the good news is that The Wave, Muscat, skippered by Leigh McMillan, has been assured of an overall podium finish going into the final leg. The contest for the season's title is now a four-way tussle among The Wave, Muscat, Morgan Larson-skippered Oman Air, Groupe Edmond de Rothschild and Red Bull Sailing Team, which is skippered by Olympic gold medallist Roman Hagara. The Wave, Muscat's Hashim al Rashdi believes it won't be a cakewalk for the Oman Sail teams in Rio. A one-two finish won't be easy, he said.I have a lot of respect for the other teams and everyone has been competing hard this season. We need to keep training and be as focussed as we have been throughout the year. Hopefully, we can win the title.Nasser al Mashari of Oman Air is upbeat, though. Omani boats finishing first and second would be brilliant - that would mean a lot, he said. This year has been special for Oman with all its programmes and the World Tourism Award victory. I hope we can complete this happiness with a one-two finish in Rio.Seventh leg results: 1 Groupe Edmond de Rothschild (173 pts), 2 The Wave, Muscat (161.3), 3 Oman Air (159), 4 GAC Pindar (134), 5 SAP Extreme Sailing Team (121), 6 Red Bull Sailing Team (120.7), 7 Alinghi (102), 8 Team Extreme Ville de Nice (69).Overall standings: 1 The Wave, Muscat (61.5 pts), 2 Oman Air (54), 3 Groupe Edmond de Rothschild (51), 4 Red Bull Sailing Team (48.5), 5 GAC Pindar (38.5), 6 SAP Extreme Sailing Team (33), 7 Alinghi (28), 8
