DP World to begin building Turkey's Yarimca terminal soon


(MENAFN) DP World's senior vice-president, Global Operation, Rashid Abdulla, announced that the company will start building its Yarimca terminal in Turkey very soon, reported Khaleej Times. Abdulla said thaty the terminal, with a capacity of 1.3 million TEUs, is part of 10 key port developments being implemented by the Dubai-based firm. He added that of the 10 projects the third biggest global container terminal operator is carrying out are London Gateway, Rotterdam Gateway, and terminal 2 and 3 at Jabel Ali. The company, which will spend around USD3.7 billion between 2011-2015 on its infrastructure development projects, has spent USD260 million on its expansion projects in 2012's first half. It is worth noting that DP World is managing over 60 terminals across 6 continents. In the January-June period, the company handled 27.5 million TEUs, representing an annual surge of 76 percent.
