(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Regional markets ended mostly lower on Sunday driven by negative international markets amid rising protests against a decision by the ruler to amend the electoral law in Kuwait.Muscat Securities Market closed the day with relatively low volume and turnover and the general index closed with losses of 0.08 per cent at 5,709.17.Total volume fell to 7.8mn while total turnover plummeted to RO1.93mn level generated by 692 numbers of trades. Market breadth stood in favour of decliners in the end of the day as of the 41 securities traded for the day 20 declined while seven advanced and 14 stocks closed unchanged.Stocks closing as top gainers for the day were Dhofar Cattle Feeds (1.52 per cent at 201bz), Bank Dhofar (1.37 per cent at 370bz), Oman Telecom (1.07 per cent at RO1.419).The stocks closing as top losers for the day were Galfar Engineering (-3.89 per cent at 395bz), Gulf International Chemicals (-1.88 per cent at 157bz), Al Batinah Development and Investment (-1.75 per cent at 56bz). Among the sector indices, the Financial sector index edged lower by 0.14 per cent while the Industrial sector index closed with losses of 0.57 per cent down by poor third quarter results of Galfar Engineering and the news of Al Jazeera Steel paying duty related charges in US. the Services sector Index closed marginally down by 0.08 per cent at the session's closing.
