Bulgarian customs seize 33,000 bottles of fake perfume

(MENAFN- AFP) Keen-nosed Bulgarian customs officers seized on Thursday 33,000 bottles of fake perfume hidden behind crates of macaroni on a cargo train, officials said.

The packaging on the bottles en route from Turkey to the Netherlands "could easily fool even the most experienced western European shopper," the customs office said.

The scents inside bore however "only faint resemblance to the originals, with a categorically different composition, intensity and durability," it said.

It was the largest haul of counterfeit perfumes in Bulgaria, a key transit route for fake goods from Asia and elsewhere into western Europe, in the past six years.
