Kuwait- 'Driving licences issued illegally will be pulled'

(MENAFN- Arab Times) Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs at Ministry of Interior Brigadier Dr Mustafa Al-Za'abi formed a committee recently to investigate how some expatriates obtained drivers' licenses even though they did not meet the required conditions, reports Al-Anba daily quoting a ministerial source. He explained that according to a ministerial decision, the conditions for obtaining drivers licenses are salary above KD 400, possession of a university degree and resident of the country for more than two years. He indicated that the decision to form the investigative committee was taken after they discovered that hundreds of expatriates obtained drivers licenses without meeting the necessary conditions. He said initial investigations by the committee revealed that the applications were completed at service centers and were not sent to the Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs at Ministry of Interior, adding that the managers of the traffic departments approved several applications illegally. He revealed that a comprehensive report on such transactions will be submitted to Dr Al-Za'abi, who will in turn forward the report to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Ahmad Al-Humoud to take appropriate action. He indicated that an investigation will be carried out to uncover those involved in the violation of the ministerial decision and those accused of the charge will be referred to the Public Prosecution, adding that the drivers' licenses that were issued illegally will be withdrawn.
