"World Food Day" opportunity to boost food security


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Celebrating the World Food Day on October 16th serves as a reminder that issues facing food security should be dealt with before another crisis occurs, said an official here Sunday. Board Chairman and Director General of Kuwait's Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAF), Jassim Al-Bader, told the press that Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) released a report indicating that the world is facing a huge crisis within food security, adding that this year's celebrations would focus on agricultural cooperation. Kuwait is not in isolation when it comes to food crisis, said Al-Bader, noting that the hike in food commodities' prices was an indication that the country was heading in the wrong direction. He affirmed that PAAF would continue to tackle issues concerning food crisis and would take the necessary steps to reduce its impact within the country.
