(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is keen on economic integration between Asian countries, a senior UAE official said Saturday and commended His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's call to hosting the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) summit. Dr. Jassem Al-Khalofi, UAE's deputy chief delegate for preparatory meetings for the ACD summit, said the UAE was keen on seeing a continuous cooperation between ACD's 32 member countries which have great economic potentials. Speaking to KUNA, Al-Khalofi said the Asian countries were spearheading economic growth worldwide and it was important to have certain mechanisms to boost development in Asian countries. He thanked Kuwait for hosting the ACD Summit and hoped the meeting would have key economic decisions. On Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah's call to transform the ACD into an organization, Al-Khalofi said the expert would deliberate this matter. He said the ACD was important for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries because it would help the six GCC states in their integration. Al-Khalofi said economic cooperation and dialogue was not restricted to oil but "many and important economic factors." He added that the UAE delegation was not focusing on having bilateral agreements out of the ACD meetings, but to participate actively and give impetus for common action.
