Biden's debacle

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) It wasn't expected of Joe Biden to be that non-serious. The US vice-president's smirking theatrical while facing his Republican contender could simply be termed as childish. It has cost the Democrats in value and reputation, and could come to tilt the presidential duel in favour of the Republicans. Biden's rout has come just close on the heels of President Barack Obama's Denver debacle, wherein the master-of-rhetoric was seen struggling to outpace Mitt Romney. The fact that Mitt was liaised with statistics, and Obama couldn't even reply in all humility was surprising. So was the case on Thursday, when the vice-presidential debate went beyond the bounds, and posted the message that the sitting administration is quite incoherent and irresponsive at times. There was no need for Biden to pose that he rules the roost and is carefree of concerns being aired by his adversary, Paul Ryan. Similarly, what prompted Biden to say that the White House was unaware of an SOS from Benghazi consulate is sheer disservice to the real issues of national security, and especially at a time when the GOP is bent upon portraying the administration as one that is not leading the world from the front. Biden's merry-making mood was unbecoming of his stature and he fumbled several times during the debate. The most startling policy fiasco was evident as Joe went on to claim that under the Obama tax cut plan, people making one million dollars or more are liable to pay more taxes. Whereas the ceiling is $250,000! Such a supposed-to-be ill-informed attitude could go a long way in translating GOP's destination Washington D.C dream as real and within reach.
