(MENAFN - Qatar News Agency) The U.S. appeals court overturned a ban on sales of Samsung's Galaxy Nexus phone in the U.S markets following a long legal conflict between the latter and rival iPhone manufacturer, Apple, over patent infringement.
Apple claims that the south Korean manufacturer infringed its patents, which it believes has played a role in Samsung devices' success. The ban was lifted as the appeals court said that the district court in California, which has issued the ban earlier in June, had "abused its discretion in entering an injunction".
South Korean news agency (Yonhap) on Friday reported that Apple claims a feature in the Galaxy Nexus that aids data searches is an infringement of its patent.
They reported that the district court in California had decided that the feature would harm Apple's business but the appeals court said Apple needs to prove that "the infringing feature drives consumer demand for the accused product.
" Earlier this month, a sales ban on Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet computer in the US was also lifted.
