UAE- Inspectors absolved of bribe charge


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The RAK Criminal Court has acquitted two employees from a charge of requesting bribe from the owner of a company. As per court records, the case dates back to August when the pursuant lodged a complaint against two inspectors at the RAK Municipality accusing them of seeking bribe to change the results of unfit samples of products they collected from his company. The complaint was referred to the RAK Public Prosecution where the plaintiff insisted that the two requested a bribe of Dh3,000 to change the result of the sample collected from negative into positive. The two employees denied the charges, and affirmed that the samples collected were delivered to the lab concerned, and later proved to be unfit. They added that the results may not be manipulated as they are referred to the higher authorities. In another case, the relatives of an Asian woman refused to pardon her husband who earlier killed her. Being out of the country, they insisted on death penalty through their lawyer. As per court records, the defendant, identified WA, 33, who holds no identity documents, stabbed his 25-year-old pregnant wife to death. Having been arrested by the RAK Police, he was referred to the RAK Public Prosecution which charged him with premeditated murder. The man denied the charge of intentional murder, and attributed it to their family disputes. The RAK Criminal Court ordered adjournment of the case to November.
