(MENAFN) Portugal's National Statistics Institute (INE) stated that in the 3-month period ending in August, the country's trade gap contracted by USD1.65 billion, reported Xinhua News.

The agency said that in the June-August period, exports of goods rose by 10.4 percent, whereas imports fell by 1.5 percent

In August, Portugal's exports jumped by 13.7 percent on annual basis, while imports went up by 5.5 percent.

It is worth noting that August's exports were driven by an increase of 37.7 percent in shipments to non-EU countries.
