International Goldfields to announce 'significant acquisition'

(MENAFN- ProactiveInvestors - Australia) International Goldfields (ASX: IGS) has been placed in pre-open this morning after the ASX granted the company a trading halt pending a 'significant acquisition'. International Goldfields has not yet elaborated any further on the acquisition, but worth noting just last month the company entered into two separate transactions, worth a combined A$3.6 million, that once completed will see it divest its Australian assets. The company recently acquired over 1450 square kilometres of prospective Birimian greenstone geology in southern Mali, West Africa. The halt will last until the earlier of an announcement being made to the market, or the opening of trade on Thursday 11th October 2012.
