(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) The Ajman Municipality officials, on Sunday, seized a car loaded with large quantity of rotten meat in Masfoot. The meat was being sold in Masfoot and Hatta by a mobile vendor, said an official of the Ajman Municipality.
The inspectors seized the car which was loaded with the meat, skin and other parts of calfs, cow and sheep. The driver of the vehicle said that he intended to sell the meat in Hatta. The inspectors confiscated the car with its contents and took legal action against the seller.
The inspectors at the Ajman municipality's Masfoot branch destroyed the meat and other products.
Humaid Al Mualla, Director of the Public Health and Environment Department at the Ajman Municipality, said that the inspectors of the municipality are working round the clock in each and every part of the emirate. The mobile vendor thought that inspection teams would not be present in a remote area like Masfoot.
The municipality is taking great efforts to protect public health, he said, adding that it recently held a meeting with butchers and educated them about the importance of maintaining hygienic conditions and ways of proper slaughtering in view of Eid Al Adha. They were also briefed on proper ways of getting rid of waste to ensure clean environment.
He pointed out that the municipality abattoirs are well prepared to receive animals for slaughtering during the Eid days.
