(MENAFN - Arab Times) Volkswagen-Behbehani launched the all-new Passat 2013 on Monday morning at the Behbehani showroom in AlRai.

The car was launched by Ali Mourad Behbehani, along with a team of representatives from Volkswagen, showcasing several of the new model in different colors and specifications. Since the launching of the first Passat in 1973, over 19 million have been sold worldwide, with the new model maintaining VW's promises of reliability, whilst introducing new levels of comfort and luxury, as well as size an technology. "A revolution in its category, the new Passat brings luxurious but affordable German-engineered motoring to the Middle East," says Stefan Mecha, Managing Director, Volkswagen Middle East. "Competitively priced, the introduction to the model range starts at KD 6,999, bringing with it high-end innovation and improvements in space, economy and efficiency."

The new Passat features 16, 17 and 18-inch alloy wheels, electric seat adjustment, leather seats, a Fender sound system, radio-navigation system, front fog lights with static cornering lights, automatic climate control, ambiance lighting and keyless access engine starting and locking system. It is also available with a 2.5 litre 170hp five-cylinder engine and a six-speed automatic gearbox. "The new Passat represents a huge jump in Volkswagen's innovation and technology, and competes directly with other medium-sized saloon vehicles," declared Abdullah, General Manager of Volkswagen Behbehani. "We now have a car in each segment," Abdullah added.

The 2013 Passat is the largest model so far, featuring a development of the clear minimalist lines and styling of previous Passat models, with a longer body and wider frame, enhancing the luxuriousness and power of previous models. The interior maintains the elegant simplicity characteristic of the Passat with clever intuitive features, such as the tachometer and speedometer, which are split by a digital multifunction display, as well as ABS and ESP safety systems, driver and passenger head curtain and side thorax airbags, a Bluetooth system with voice command, multifunction steering wheel with audio and phone controls, cruise control and a radio with MP3 and CD player.

The distinguishing features of the SE model include a six-CD changer with MP3 player, a leather multifunction steering wheel, rear air vents and 16-inch San Jose alloy wheels. The car is available in four trim levels for all potential buyers; S, SE, SEL and SPORT, each with its own specific features to suit the tastes of buyers. Prices for the new Passat begin at KD 7,000 upwards.
