Dubai's EMAL inks USD93m supply contract with Italy's Fluorsid


(MENAFN) Dubai's Emirates Aluminium (EMAL) has awarded a USD93 million contract to Italy's Fluorsid to supply aluminium fluoride (AlF3), the company said in a press release. The three-year contract will have Fluorsid supply AlF3 to EMAL's potline, which will consist of 1,200 pots after completion of Phase II, with each pot consuming roughly 18kg of AlF3 per tonne of aluminium produced. President and CEO, Saeed Fadhel Al Mazrooei, said that upon completion of pahse II, EMAL will be established as one of the largest single site smelters in the world. Last month, Emal celebrated its latest addition to its pahse II expansion project; the completed first Potshell and the Superstructure. 444 new pots will be installed as part of phase II, each is capable of producing 3.2 tonnes of metal per day.
