(MENAFN - Muscat Daily) Burglars decamped with packs of cigarettes and other items at Khimji's Mart in MBD in the wee hours of Sunday. They also took away RO1,000 from a pharmacy inside the supermarket and ransacked it. Staff at the supermarket said that the thieves broke in through the roof, which helped them access the storeroom and main hall.''The thieves tried to open the safe near the cash counter but failed. They took away cigarette packs and other items,'' an employee said.This is the second time that the supermarket has been targeted. Last year, too, thieves had broken in and made away with some items using the same modus operandi. The pharmacy was also ransacked.The number of people involved is not clear."Khimji's Mart, MBD, witnessed a burglary. The burglars broke in through the roof and tried to prise away the grouted safe with a crowbar. They took away cigarette packs and some other small items,'' Rajiv Ahuja, head of corporate communications, Khimji Ramdas Group, said in a statement.''The burglars' next target was the pharmacy. An employee of the shop said that more than RO1,000 was stolen. Some medicines were also stolen and the pharmacy ransacked.''An ROP team has collected fingerprints from the crime scene.
