(MENAFN - Khaleej Times) A salesman was sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Court of First Instance on Sunday for raping a woman guest at a party at his apartment taking advantage of her being drunk.

The court ordered him be deported after serving his prison term. The verdict is subject to appeal within 15 days at the Court of Appeal.

According to the prosecution records, the 47-year-old Indian defendant threw a get-together party at his flat to which he invited people of different nationalities.

When the party was over, he found the woman, a Filipina, exhausted and under the influence of liquor. He carried her to his bedroom.

He undressed her by force and when he felt that she was resisting him, he beat her up and raped her.

The 30-year-old jobless woman told the prosecutor that she went with her girlfriend to the defendant's house in Jumeirah 1 to attend a party. She had liquor and about midnight, she felt very exhausted and slept on the couch.

She woke up in the morning and found herself on a bed in a room and the defendant by her side. She was shocked and asked about her friend. He told her that her friend had left the house.

The accused started touching her and trying to undress her. As she resisted him, he punched her on her face and beat her up with his hands.

Despite her pleas to leave her alone, he raped her.

When he left the room, she tried to walk out but found the door locked. She fell asleep and was awakened by her friend who helped her get dressed.

They went to a hospital and the following day filed a complaint at the Bur Dubai police station.

The complainant's friend, a jobless Filipina, aged 34, told the prosecutor that she woke up in the morning that day but did not find her friend next to her on the couch.

She entered a room and found her friend lying naked and motionless on a bed.

There was blood and bruises on her head and body. She woke her up and the latter looked afraid and started crying.

A policeman said that the two women reported the incident in the afternoon of a day in February. The defendant claimed during interrogation that he had consensual sex with the Filipina.

He also said she was a prostitute and came to his house upon his request. He had sex with her for money, the accused said.

He claimed he got the injuries on his body in a fight with her before having sex with her. He denied raping her.

The forensic report said the woman had bruises and scratches on her face, arms, back and knees, which could have resulted from a fight.

The report of the General Directorate of Criminal Evidence showed that the scratches on the defendant's body were caused by fingernails.
