Kuwait- Crackdown on motorists using phones while driving


(MENAFN- Arab Times) Officers from General Traffic Department issued 7,667 citations against traffic violations out of which 284 citations were issued for using mobile phones while driving, seized 284 vehicles and detained 11 individuals, during a series of impromptu campaigns that were launched by the department in all governorates across the country during the weekend. In Capital Governorate, officers issued 1,876 citations and seized 30 vehicles while in Farwaniya Governorate, they issued 1,011 citations and seized 18 vehicles. In Hawally Governorate, officers issued 1,572 citations and seized 60 vehicles while in Ahmadi, 722 citations were registered. In Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate, 161 citations were issued and two vehicles were seized while in Jahra Governorate, 458 citations were registered and 10 vehicles were seized. Officers from the General Operations Unit issued 1,645 citations, seized 164 vehicles and detained 11 motorists. The officers at Kuwait International Airport issued 172 citations for various violations.
