Iran increases volume of gas exports to Turkey

(MENAFN) The National Iranian Gas Company's spokesman, Majid Boujarzadeh, stated that his country has boosted gas exports to Turkey to 30 million cubic meters (mcm) on a daily basis, reported Tehran Times. Boujarzadeh said that the move came as a blast on the Turkish section of the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum (BTE) pipeline transferring Azerbaijani gas to Turkey halted gas exports. On the other hand, BP Azerbaijan, the operator of the Azerbaijani offshore Shah Deniz field, which produces gas transported via the BTE pipeline, said that at the request of the Turkish pipeline company Botas, gas supply to the firm's system was halted. It is worth noting that Iran is committed to provide Ankara with gas whenever the flow of gas exports into Turkey faces a problem, according to Boujarzadeh.
