UAE- Maid arrested for stealing Dh113,000 from employer

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Sharjah Police on Saturday arrested a 25-year-old Ethiopian maid for stealing Dh113,000 from her employer's house in Sharjah. The police received a complaint at the Al Heera police station from the employer, identified as Mohammed I. from Yemen, stating that he found Dh38,000 accidentally at his maid's closet, which made him doubt that his money at home was stolen. When he checked his money, he didn't find it. The police, based on the information, launched an intensive search for the maid, who fled the house after learning that the employer had found out about the theft. She was arrested at a house rented by Ethiopian maids for weekend get-together. When she was interrogated by the police, she confessed to the theft and informed the police that she kept Dh38,000 at the closet and Dh31,000 in her room as she didn't want to keep it all in one place. She took the rest with her to the place where she was hiding. The police said she was planning to transfer the money to her country. The police urged the public to be careful when dealing with money and precious jewellery, which can tempt the maids to commit crimes.
